Better Generation Solutions was pleased to contribute to a recent panel discussion with Economy students at Cardiff Business School, following an invitation from Dr Iain Long and Jon Forbes.

The session focused on the skills and attributes required to succeed beyond graduation, with particular emphasis on those developed outside the core academic curriculum. Discussion centred on the importance of honesty, adaptability and communication, alongside the value of gaining broader experience that complements academic achievement and enhances long-term employability.

The panel brought together a range of perspectives, with contributions from Llyr Griffiths of Welsh Government and Paul Oates of UBS, whose professional experiences added practical insight into different career pathways and workplace expectations.

The discussion highlighted strong student engagement and thoughtful reflection on the realities of the contemporary workplace, as well as the steps students can take during their studies to build skills, confidence and professional readiness.

Better Generation Solutions continues to support initiatives that strengthen employability, bridge the gap between education and work, and help students and institutions respond to an evolving skills landscape.
